It takes real initiative to stop guessing about your numbers and go looking for clarity, and if you're reading this, you've already made that call.
Most small business owners aren't just looking for data-entry. They're looking for someone who understands their business to help them: get back on track, keep their books accurate, and make good decisions about where they're headed next.
This is what we do. The Advisory Bookkeeping Co. offers bookkeeping services for small businesses across BC through a clear, three-step process.
This is where every new client starts, and it's key to future financial success. Most small businesses have books that are behind, messy, or scattered across systems. We've seen it all!
We dig in and get your records accurate and current, this includes catching up, cleaning up a file that's grown disorganized, or migrating software. Every starting point is different, so this work is billed hourly based on scope. Most catch-ups run in the range of $1,200 to $4,000, and we'll give you a clear picture of timing and cost before we get going.
Once your books are accurate, we have the conversations that matter. We talk about your business, not just the numbers, but where you want it to go. For some clients that's a single 60-minute advisory meeting. For others, it's a deeper 3–4 hour strategic planning session, with follow-up meetings to keep you accountable to the plan as things shift.
This is where your bookkeeping stops being a box to check and starts actually working for you: a tool for deciding what's next, not just a record of what already happened.
Because bookkeeping shouldn't just tell you where you've been. It should help you decide where you're going.
With your books clean and your plan in place, your monthly bookkeeping becomes exactly what it should be. Reliable. Accurate. And proactive.
Our monthly bookkeeping services start at $495/month and include:
We also offer:
Instead of constantly fixing yesterday's problems, we're helping you stay ahead of tomorrow's.
Bookkeeping isn't the whole picture, and we're upfront about that. When your business needs go beyond what we do, like corporate (T2) filings or investment and financial planning advice, we don't leave you to figure it out on your own. We connect you directly with the accountants and financial advisors we already know and trust.

We work with small business owners and nonprofits across BC, in just about every industry you can name.
This is for you if you're ready to invest in getting your books done right and want a bookkeeper who's actually invested in your business, not just your data entry. Curious who you'd actually be working with?
If what you're after is the fastest, cheapest fix, that's genuinely not us, and that's okay. We'd rather you know that now.

We don't think of ourselves as just your bookkeeper. We think of ourselves as part of your team.
That means:
We ask about your business, not just your numbers. Every relationship starts with understanding what you're building and where you want it to go.
We check in, not just check boxes. Regular communication means we catch issues, like overstaffing or a stalling growth curve, before they become real problems.
We clean up other people's messes. A lot of what we do is improving books that were handed off from another bookkeeper who didn't quite understand what the business needed.
We keep a small, dedicated client list. We limit how many new clients we take on each month so that every business we work with actually gets our attention. This means we have a short waitlist, but we are worth waiting for.
The Advisory Bookkeeping Co. is based in Powell River, BC, and provides online bookkeeping services for small businesses virtually across the entire province, from Vancouver, Surrey and the Lower Mainland, to Victoria and Vancouver Island, to smaller communities along the coast and inland. Wherever you're doing business in BC, we can work with you.

We offer monthly bookkeeping, payroll, and personal tax filing, along with advisory sessions and strategic planning to help you use your numbers to make better decisions. Every new client starts with a catch-up, clean-up, or migration to get your books accurate first.
The catch-up or clean-up step is where every client starts. In our experience, skipping it just means the same problems show up later, so we build it into every engagement to make sure your ongoing bookkeeping starts on solid ground.
Once we have the documents we need and get started, most catch-ups take one to three weeks, depending on how much needs to be sorted out. Because we take on a limited number of new clients each month, there may also be a short wait to get started.
Accurate numbers are the starting point, not the whole deal. Once your books are in order, we use them to help you make real decisions: whether you can afford to hire, where costs are creeping up, or when growth is starting to stall. You get regular check-ins instead of a once-a-year surprise, someone who catches problems early instead of after they've cost you money, and a bookkeeper who actually knows your business well enough to have that conversation with you.
The first step is to get your bookkeeping on track. This can range from $1,200 - $4,000 or more, depending on how many years we need to go back. Once that step is complete, the initial strategic consultation meetings are included in that price. With those two pieces in place, we can set up a package for monthly bookkeeping. Monthly bookkeeping starts at $495/month and can increase based on volume, complexity, payrolls, or CRA engagements.
We work primarily with Quickbooks Online and Sage Desktop. We often work within other supportive apps such as Shopify, Jobber, or Jane. This will depend on the client. During the first step of working together, we assess your current accounting software and consider if other software would benefit your business.

Yes, we work with nonprofits as well as small businesses across a wide range of industries.
This is actually a large part of what we do. Cleaning up and correcting books that were set up or maintained incorrectly is one of our most common starting points with new clients.
Yes. Once you're a bookkeeping client, we offer payroll processing and personal (T1) tax filing, and can connect you with trusted partners for corporate tax filings and financial planning.
You're the one who decided your business deserved real financial clarity.
Book a free consultation and tell us about your business: what's working, what's not, and where you want it to go. We genuinely love this part. We'll follow up to talk it through and figure out what getting started would look like for you. Prefer to reach out directly first? Connect with us any time.
